Gateway at CeBIT 2006

Article translated from the daily paper “Hannoversche Allgemeine Wirtshaft”, 15 March 2006: “Schneller, besser, preiswerter” - Selbstbewusste Aussteller aus Indien auf der CeBIT

"Faster, better, cheaper"– Confident Exhibitors from India at CeBIT

Certainly, Andreas Schmitt must have been a good host. Already for three years, the citizen of Lehrte hosted CeBIT fairgoers from India. Coming from the software company Gateway TechnoLabs in Ahmedabad to the CeBIT computer exhibition, they were so impressed by Mr. Schmidt that they selected him as their representative for Germany. Now, the engineer is presenting together with 4 Indians at a small Gateway exhibition in hall 8, advertising services of the company, which has yet comparatively small client base in Germany. “The quality of Indian software developers is good”, says Schmidt. The Indians operate with state of the art technology, work 6 days a week and are much cheaper compared to German competitors.” The company, employing 400 people, is very satisfied with this year’s CeBIT: “The response we get exceeds our expectations.”

Indian Exhibitors at CeBIT:
IT experts from this ambitious country have a good reputation worldwide

Numerous representatives from other companies, who want to save costs for software developments, came to their exhibition, have shown great interest. Initially Schmidt and his colleagues worried that they might have not much to do at CeBIT, says Schmidt. But the opposite was true: “So far, I did not even have time to walk around the CeBIT.”

Gateway TechnoLabs is one of 53 Indian exhibitors at the CeBIT, occupying in total an area of 725 square meters. Not only in the growing economy of India, the Indian IT sector gained much importance. It furthermore enjoys a good reputation throughout the world. Western companies are progressively shifting their programming and software developing to India, where year after year well skilled programmers and highly motivated engineers graduate from Universities. For example in the south Indian IT centre Bangalore, not only Indian IT model enterprises like Infosys and Wipro have their head quarters. At CeBIT, Indian exhibitors experience great interest. “We receive more questions and responses than in the last year”, explains Ganseh Jivani, head of Matrix Telecom Solutions from Vadodara in India happily. His company offers telecommunication systems and exhibits in hall 12 at CeBIT. A greater response than in the last year experiences also Jayanthra Jayachandran, employee from Angler Technologies in Coimbatore, India. His company mainly aims at successfully out competing Eastern European competitors at the European market.  Confidently he states: “We are faster, better, cheaper”.
During this year’s Hannover exhibition from 24-28 April, the growth of the Indian economy will be a special topic. India is the partner country of this industrial exhibition. Therefore, up to 300 Indian exhibitors are expected to participate.
